"The third reason to create the piece- Was once again my grandmother Elsie. She was an avid rooster collector, to the point where she eventually said “Okay thats enough, no more roosters really” to us all."

"So as it turns out, this is not what my mother had in mind. She wanted more of a cartoon style, where they were held in an embrace and perhaps dancing. I can’t say this is my style in particular… But if any of you want to take claim and make that- Please send it my mother’s way."
"I wasn’t sure when I first created it which colours I would end up with, but really love the blues. They’re so rare and vivid, it just seemed like the right fit for the concept. I used three shades of blue Microns and Faber-Castell’s to give some depth to the lobster."
"The more we workshopped the idea, the more keen I felt on making it a reality. I started with a list of all the wildlife, both plants and animals, that I love here. I placed them across the Island in pencil and began in with the ink. I moved right to left across the Island filling in the details. "
"The original of this piece was done in all archival inks. Since the first one, I’ve done a few variations with watercolours for the shades and black archival ink. I may have placed the red pieces in a few special spots."
"I had camped just outside of Squamish, and spent my day working on this drawing with a great view. I was going back and forth between my lighthouse and a very BC inspired piece"
"I used archival inks to create a pattern of quills on this little hedgehog, and coloured him with warm mustard yellows and burnt oranges, brick tones and a slate blue grey."
"I was there. I was homesick, I was seeing all the posts by friends back home about Springtime and everything opening up again- And this is what came of it."
"I’ve been in those woods tons, and I have never seen a hummingbird there. It was so bizarre and wild that those words about seeing a bird as a sign had just left the woman’s mouth."
